Welcome to DrinkHomeBrew.com!  We created this site to share our love of home brewing beer with friends, family, and fellow home brewers.  We started with brewing kits from Listermann’s in Cincinnati and confidently pulled off an IPA, Imperial Stout, an Oktoberfest we don’t talk about*, and the English Nut Brown Ale that just went into bottles last night. The next step is to break away from the chains of home brewing kits, find some recipes to stray off the comfortable path, and some day make our way to the coveted land of mashing our own malt. To dream the dream.

We thought a site to share recipes and discuss home brewing techniques might help everyone achieve better tasting brew. Please share your comments and insight on our posts — our ego’s haven’t had enough time yet to believe that we know everything about brewing.

*Our crucial mistake with the Oktoberfest was fermenting in the wrong temperature. The instructions said 48-50 degrees but we thought a balmy 70 at the tail end of a hot summer certainly couldn’t hurt. Well, it did. Gathering with friends to take the first sip (mistake #2), we all learned simultaneously that our Oktoberfest beer tasted like … pears.  We have since learned this is a possible side effect from fermenting in the wrong temperature affecting yeast activity.
